blackout set in photo studio

Photo Studio Hire Extras Explained

#1 Studio Hire with Lighting Assistance

The owner of the studio – Robbie Ewing – can assist with lighting setup for the duration of your photo studio hire for an extra charge. This means as a photographer or videographer you can concentrate on getting the most from the model, dealing with the client, etc. He can also help with other things, like holding reflectors, aiming the wind machine, doing bits of BTS on your phone, and hitting playback on music. If your a small team or individual and an extra pair of hands would be useful, Robbie can help for a relatively small additional fee. Another benefit of booking this studio hire extra is Robbie knows his kit and how to use it to achieve the looks on your mood board during your photo studio hire.

#2 Need A Photographer

Robbie the studio owner was a photographer before he set up Arch Photo Studio during the pandemic. He’s been shooting digitally since 2005. If we count his film work back at the end of school and into design college he’s been taking photos since 1985/86. It’s that long ago he can’t remember exactly when he got his first 35mm Minolta. This a long winded way of saying he’s been a photographer for quite a long time. He specializes in portraits, product and commercial photography with a bit of videography for socials thrown in as its required these days. Every project is different so it’s best to head over to his website enquiry form and tell him about your photography requirements for your photo studio hire.

photo studio hire with blackout scene with male dancer

#3 Blackout Photo Studio Hire

For a small additional fee, we can convert our basic white stage into a blackout studio in around 20 -25 minutes. This transformation involves stretching black backdrop fabric across the back wall, adding blackout fabric to the sides, and laying black floor tiles to create the ultimate light-controlled space perfect for your photo studio hire.

We also provide an array of lighting equipment specifically designed to work within our blackout space. With snoots, gobo spots, gridded softboxes, gridded reflectors, and barn doors, you’ll have all the tools you need to craft the perfect lighting environment for your photo studio hire. Our equipment ensures you can focus on precision lighting control, helping you bring your vision to life.

#4 Green Screen Photo Studio Hire

In a similar fashion, we can convert our basic white stage into a green screen studio in around 20 minutes. This transformation involves stretching green backdrop fabric across the back wall and laying green floor tiles to create a large enough space to surround the person being filmed. It’s not huge, but more than sufficient for filming 3-5 people full length, and compared to the cost of hiring a dedicated green screen studio, the photo studio hire extra is a fraction of the cost.

#5 Painted Canvas Backdrops

We have a small selection of painted canvas backdrops – four large and one small. These are good for portrait shoots for adding texture to the background and are used primarily for headshots. These are quite expensive to buy so are only available as an extra. You can see the colours we have from the images below. Our intention is to add to when funds allow.

#6 Fabric Hanging System and fabrics

We designed a simple overhead rigging system for hanging fabrics and other items from, e.g., microphones. We are slowly building up a selection of fabrics that can be used on the system, ideal for your photo studio hire. Fabrics are a great way to create simple and effective sets as they can add texture, colour and movement, and models can interact with them.

#6 Ronin Gimbal

We have a 1 x DJI Ronin RSC2 that can be hired for your photo studio filming. Make sure you install the DJI Ronin App before you arrive and are familiar with how to balance a Gimbal. Robbie will be around to help, but this is one of those things you have to master if you want to use a Gimbal for videography.
